Our story
A calm, not-for-profit women's healing retreat
A place to rest, recover, and reconnect at your own pace. Set on six secluded acres in Port Stephens, NSW, guided by community support and a committed board.
Our founders
Founded from lived experience
Women’s Healing Sanctuary was founded by Sharalyn Drayton and Janine Hanna. Sharalyn’s son’s death is reflected in the feather symbol carried through the brand, a quiet reminder of love and presence that continues to guide the work.
Janine brings years of experience supporting terminally ill cancer patients and their families, shaping a deeply compassionate approach to care. Together, they created a place where women can pause and feel supported by women who understand.
- Rest is necessary, not indulgent. We protect time and space for recovery.
- Emotional safety without judgement. You do not have to explain or perform here.
- Women supporting women. Care, kindness, and community sit at the centre of our model.
- Gentle restoration over pressure. No hard promises, just steady support.
- Accessible care. Community contributions help more women access a stay.
Governance

Marketing and communications is led by Kelly King, supporting clear and caring communication with our community.
Registered charity
Charity status and community support
